The Great Light

a poem written by Rachael Walkup

Look around you, this world is going down and it’s no Heaven that’s for sure.

There are murders, sex trafficking, and horrible sicknesses without a cure.

The truth is – we live in a world that is broken, fallen, full of trouble, and quite sad.

Adam and Eve gave in to the enemy’s temptation and since then it’s been bad.

But hold on, because amongst the darkness there is a great light.

This person was also tempted by the enemy yet held firm to sight.

He was able to keep his eyes on His Father by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Is the Spirit leading you? Or have you allowed the enemy to fool you with his wit?

The choice is yours and I have made my choice.

My heart sings praise to my God, rejoice!

Isaiah 9:1 says that “the people living in darkness have seen a great light.”

That great light is the Messiah, Jesus. Will you chose to believe it with all your might?

How I Use Doterra Essential Oils

IMG_4663

I have been using Doterra essential oils now for about 9 months. These oils have helped my family and myself. They help to promote wellness in my family. We have used them to ease muscle aches, stop bleeding, heal bruises faster, sleep deeper, kill germs, and so much more.

I’m asked all the time what oils are used the most. So I thought I would highlight how I use essential oils to care for myself and my family.

Wild Orange/Purify or Lemon/Lemongrass: I have either of these blends running in my house daily. They smell fresh and lighten the mood in the rooms. Lemon/Lemongrass blend helps me to be productive.

OnGuard rollers: I roll my kids and myself daily with a roller of OnGuard. This oil blend supports a healthy immune response.

Sleep blend (Vetiver, Serenity, Bergamot): I used to take Ambien or Benedryl to sleep every night. Now I just roll this blend on my feet and wrists before bed. It helps me to fall asleep fast and stay asleep all night.

Balance and Serenity: These two oils are put on my wrists a few times a day. It helps me to stay calm all day long. Jesus helps with that too. I pray over my oils before applying them. 🙂

Cuts/Bruises blend: This blend I put into a spray bottle. It’s a mix of Frankincense, Lavender,

Vitamins: Oh the vitamins! How I love thee. These vitamins have given me so much energy. And I have stayed healthy since I’ve been using them as well.

Skincare line: I’m currently using the skin care line from Doterra. And I really like it. It makes me skin so smooth and I haven’t had a single blemish since I started using it.

Where Can I Go?

Throughout the scripture there are reminders everywhere telling us God is with us. This morning i ‘d love to encourage you with a particular verse. This verse was written by David. He was saying that God has searched his heart and knows him well. He then goes on to say that he can go nowhere without The Lord. Allow the words to soak into your heart today. I hope they encourage you as they do for me.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
—Psalm 139:7–10

Don’t Panic

I was reading and came across this section in Isaiah. Man, it’s an unbelievable source of encouragement. So I had to share today. I hope that it encourages your heart as well. Too often I believe the lie that came into this world when Eve ate from the tree of knowledge. The lie is that “I don’t need God.” But the truth is we desperately do! Let these words wash over your heart today –

“But you, Israel, are my servant. You’re Jacob, my first choice, descendants of my good friend Abraham. I pulled you in from all over the world, called you in from every dark corner of the earth, Telling you, ‘You’re my servant, serving on my side. I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.’ Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. “Count on it: Everyone who had it in for you will end up out in the cold— real losers. Those who worked against you will end up empty-handed— nothing to show for their lives. When you go out looking for your old adversaries you won’t find them— Not a trace of your old enemies, not even a memory. That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’ “Do you feel like a lowly worm, Jacob? Don’t be afraid. Feel like a fragile insect, Israel? I’ll help you. I, God, want to reassure you. The God who buys you back, The Holy of Israel. I’m transforming you from worm to harrow, from insect to iron. As a sharp-toothed harrow you’ll smooth out the mountains, turn those tough old hills into loamy soil. You’ll open the rough ground to the weather, to the blasts of sun and wind and rain. But you’ll be confident and exuberant, expansive in The Holy of Israel! (Isaiah 41:8-16 MSG)

Thirsty Thursday – Budgeting

It’s no surprise that my type a, organized personality loves budgets. Yes I love them. And I used to keep us on budget by a spreadsheet I built. However, after using it for a long time – I started thinking surely there is an easier way to do this.

It was then that I was introduced to YNAB or You Need A Budget. It’s a software that runs on my computer and you can get a free android or apple app as well. I love the way it budgets assigning every dollar a job.

I tried it free for a month first. But purchased very soon after I started using it. I got a coupon code to share with you to get $6 off. Click here.

Check it out and let me know what you think! We are loving it! YNAB is a tool that has us being a good steward by being more intentional with what God has provided us with.

Thirsty Thursday – Learning

I ask myself the question – what are you learning? quite often.

I do this because if you aren’t learning you are just sitting complacent. And complacency never honors God.

So…what am I learning?

1. I’m learning that without God guiding I can’t make it through the day?
2. I’m learning its impossible to be completely productive with two kids under 4 at home.
3. I’m learning the importance of putting my phone down and valuing relationships.
4. I’m learning I must watch what I say. Finn asks questions about everything.
5. I’m learning that being a mom is a hard job but an amazing job.
6. I’m learning to be content and always be thankful.
7. I’m learning to slow down because life is flying by and I don’t want to miss anything.

Learning is a continual process. I’m grateful for mentors in my life who help me learn more and more.

What are you learning this week?
